Meet Haymaker Host: Lauren Reeves of Glass Social

Today we are profiling Haymaker Host Lauren Reeves. Her space, Glass Social, is located in the Travis Heights neighborhood of Austin. With wide open spaces, flexible seating and room for up to 45 people, this indoor/outdoor stunner is just the space to get inspired, excellent work done.

Welcome, Lauren!

Tell us about yourself (especially about your entrepreneurial journey).
I have an eclectic background that includes captaining a charter yacht in tropical waters, launching optimistic start-ups, designing unforgettable events at renowned innovation firm IDEO, creating experiences for a dorm full of bright undergraduates as a Resident Fellow at Stanford, and most recently, opening Two Wishes Ranch Events, a venue on a working ranch in Lockhart, Texas.

Tell us about your space.
This space is warm and welcoming with lovely natural light throughout. The home’s palette is neutral with colorful paintings by local artist, Patrick Puckett and loads of thriving plants.

What kind of meetings/events have you hosted in the past? Why is hosting to a business audience appealing to you?
I have hosted meetings, weddings, rehearsal dinners, film shoots, private chef dinners, baby showers, and engagement parties. After hosting an array of events, I prefer meetings and film shoots which seem the best fit for the space. I enjoy the booking process with business clients, love learning about their businesses, and it’s very exciting that apps like Haymaker exist allowing me to share what I believe is a gorgeous, relaxing space to work.

What is unique about your space?
The house feels very private yet wonderfully open and airy. The walls are mostly glass in the main living space so to work inside all day does not feel confining or stuffy.

If you were to work remotely from your space, where would you set up? My favorite place to work is at the large round table in the living room. It’s surrounded by windows and plants and the chairs are very comfortable for all day seating. There’s a 10 person table just off the living room so it’s easy to move there or to the back deck to get fresh air for a break. What are three things you’d like potential guests to know about renting your space? I want everything to be kept as simple for clients as possible. I’m very familiar with Austin’s best caterers, planners, florists etc. should you need vetted recommendations. I’m happy to help you plan to end a day of meetings with cocktails, yard games and a food truck or to arrange a chef to come in and cook for your team. I love designing events big or small.
Tell us about the location of your space – are there nearby amenities or benefits? Travis Heights is my favorite Austin neighborhood. It’s charming and lovely, weird, and unexpected. The space is directly across the street from Big Stacy Park and only a 5 minute walk to South Congress for great food and people watching!
